Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa have announced their respective teams for the Champions Trophy. At the same time, Bangladesh has also declared its team for this ICC tournament to be held in Dubai and Pakistan in February-March. However, due to the absence of wicketkeeper batsman Liton Das in the team, people are having different opinions. On this matter, former Pakistani player Basit Ali has cited his religion. Basit said that Bangladesh has not given place to Liton Das in its team because he is a Hindu. Basit has expressed his displeasure over Liton not being in the squad.
30 year old Liton Das is among the star players of Bangladesh. He has played more than 200 matches for Bangladesh. Liton, who has been playing for Bangladesh in every format since 2015, was not included in their 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy. Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali has expressed his displeasure and anger regarding this on his YouTube channel. Basit Ali said, 'On what basis has Liton been thrown out? He recently scored a century in T-20. We don't know in which world we live that he is a non-Muslim, so he was removed from the team. This is a huge injustice to Liton. This is a very bad decision.
Basit Ali not only wants to see Liton in the Bangladesh team in the Champions Trophy, but he has also called the Bangladesh cricket team incomplete without Liton. He further said, 'How was Liton dropped? Liton Das is a game changer player'. Basit also said that he will complain to Bangladesh Cricket Board regarding this matter.
