New Delhi: Australia has revealed its 15-player team for the 2025 Champions Trophy, with Pat Cummins leading the squad. Despite recent injuries and questions about their form, selections include key players like Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Marsh.

The team is focused on bolstering its performance in the One Day International arena for future contests.

Sean Abbott is notably absent from Australia's team for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India and the recent matches against Pakistan. Similarly, Jake Fraser-McGurk hasn't been chosen, while Matt Short and Aaron Hardie have received their first ICC event invitations, indicating a change in how the team is being selected.

If Cummins is out of the game, Abbott is likely to fill his shoes alongside other fast bowlers like Mitchell Starc, Hazlewood, and Nathan Ellis. The squad also includes all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Aaron Hardie, who are set to bolster the bowling lineup in the forthcoming matches.

"This is a balanced and experienced squad with the core having been involved in the previous one-day World Cup, the West Indies series, last year's successful tour of the UK and the more recent Pakistan home series," chief selector George Bailey said.

"It offers a variety of options for touring management depending on opposition and the conditions that may present in Pakistan."

Travis Head is set to open with the departure of David Warner. As for the wicketkeeper role, it's between Josh Inglis and Alex Carey. With Cameron Green unavailable, the spot for the third all-rounder alongside Glenn Maxwell could go to either Marnus Labuschagne, Marcus Stoinis, or Aaron Hardie in the playing XI.

Australia will kick off their tournament journey on February 22 in Lahore with a match against England, as part of Group B. This group promises thrilling encounters, including battles with Afghanistan and South Africa, and all four teams are gunning for victory. This opening match is pivotal for Australia as they embark on their quest in the competition.
