Rajeev Shukla didn't confirm teams for IPL 2025 opening match on March 23

Earlier, for quite some time, the rumoured start date of the IPL 2025 season was March 14, but now, the BCCI have officially announced it to be March 23 via their Vice-President Rajeev Shukla. But, at the same time, there is no confirmation yet on which teams will be playing the highly anticipated opening match of the tournament, apart from the venues for the playoff matches and the grand finale, which is expected to go down in the last week of May if not early June.

Moreover, in the BCCI SGM, the replacement of Jay Shah in the secretary post was announced, and his name is none other than Devajit Saikia, the former Assam cricketer. Jay Shah had vacated his BCCI post after taking over the position of the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) at the end of last year, and he had visited Brisbane in his official capacity during the third Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series between Australia and India.
