Delhi: Australia's star batsman Steve Smith played a explosive innings while playing for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL) on Saturday, 11 January. 35-year-old right-handed batsman Smith scored a brilliant century in the match against Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Cricket Ground. While opening, he scored 121 runs in 64 balls, which included 10 fours and 7 sixes.

Smith made a partnership of 113 runs with captain Moises Henriques (46 runs on 28 balls) for the third wicket. After this, he added unbeaten 58 runs with Ben Dwarshuis (23 runs on 7 balls) for the fourth wicket. Sixers scored 220 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs.

Smith created history by scoring a century while playing his first Big Bash match this season. This is his third century in BBL. With this, he has become only the second player in the history of this tournament to score three or more centuries. Smith has played 32 matches so far in his BBL career. He scored his first century (101 runs) on 17 January 2023 against Adelaide Strikers. His second century (125 not out) came against Sydney Thunder on 21 January 2023.

Steve last played IPL in 2021. Registered itself in the IPL 2025 auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore, but remained unsold.
