IND vs ENG: The Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) has revealed the 15-member squad for the 5-match T20I series against England on Saturday, 11th January.
Mohammed Shami has finally returned to the national squad after a gap of 1.5 years. The likes of Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah didn't make it to the squad.
India's squad for T20I series against England: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel (vc), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel (wk).
Rishabh Pant is a notable exclusion from India's squad for the upcoming T20I series, with his last appearance in the format being during the Sri Lanka tour. Dhruv Jurel has been included in the 15-member squad as the second wicketkeeper, while Sanju Samson is likely to retain his spot in the playing XI and open the innings. Jurel, who has limited international experience, featured in two T20Is for India during their Zimbabwe tour.
Many key players from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad have been rested for this series. However, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Harshit Rana remain part of the team. Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead the side as captain, with Axar Patel serving as the vice-captain.
The five-match T20I series between India and England is set to begin on January 22, with the opening game scheduled to take place in Kolkata.
As far as Jasprit Bumrah is concerned, he didn't make it to the squad possibly due to the back spasm injury he suffered in the Sydney Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He is presently under supervision of the BCCI medical team and all efforts are in place to make sure that he is available for the ICC Champions Trophy next month, which starts from February 19th.
