Ever since former cricketer Gautam Gambhir has become the head coach of Team India. Team India's performance was not as per expectations. Talking about the last 2-3 months, Team India had to face 0-3 defeat in the three-match series against New Zealand at home. After this, the Indian team also lost to Border Gavaskar by 1-3 in Australia. Being the head coach, Gambhir also had to face criticism. Although some players are also supporting him. Now Robin Uthappa has come out in his support. Describing Gambhir as a simple person, he also objected to his comparison with Greg Chappell.

Uthappa does not agree on Gambhir's comparison with Greg Chappell

Amidst the poor performance of Team India, news also came that Gautam Gambhir is not getting along well with the team players. A similar situation also happened with former Team India coach Greg Chappell. Chappell was the Indian coach between 2005 and 2007 and during this period, the team's performance not only deteriorated but there were also differences with many senior players. Gambhir also seems to be stuck in such a situation at the moment, due to which it is being said that his coaching style is also like Chappell.

However, Robin has expressed objection to the comparison between Chappell and Gambhir. He does not agree with this comparison. Robin said in an interview, 'I disagree with you that his style (coaching style) is similar to Greg Chappell. I don't agree with this at all. I have never met a more simple person than Gauti (Gautam Gambhir). He is very straightforward. You may not like what he says, but he will tell you to your face, you can be sure of it and I like people like that. According to me, the life of these people is good. Whatever they think, they will tell you. This thing is better than being a different person behind someone's back. I also like the same thing and Gauti is going to speak the absolute truth in this matter.

Gambhir's real test will be in Champions Trophy

Gautam Gambhir became the head coach of Team India in July 2024. Under his coaching, before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and defeat against New Zealand, Team India had also lost a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Gambhir's real test will be in the Champions Trophy to be played in February. This will be Gambhir's first ICC tournament as a coach.
