Gautam Gambhir took over the responsibility as the head coach of Team India in July 2024. During his tenure, the performance of the Indian team in the last 6 months has not been anything special. Team India has had to face many embarrassing defeats. First, Sri Lanka lost in the ODI series after 27 years. Then faced a clean sweep for the first time in a home Test against New Zealand. Recently, we also had to lose the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Along with this, the race for the Team World Test Championship was also out. Therefore BCCI now wants to review his work. For this he has called a meeting.
BCCI is going to hold a review meeting today i.e. on Saturday, January 11 at its Mumbai headquarters. According to media reports, BCCI President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla and Interim Secretary Devjit Saikia will be present in this meeting. During this, questions will be asked from Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar regarding India's performance.
Actually, after Gambhir's arrival, Team India has performed well in T20. But ODI and Test results have not been as per expectations. After defeating Bangladesh, it seemed that Team India would easily make it to the finals of the WTC. But this could not happen due to losing two consecutive series. The performance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli was also very poor during this period. Therefore his Test career will also be discussed.
At present, the Indian Cricket Board wants answers from Gautam Gambhir only regarding the recent results. Apart from this, he also wants to discuss the T20 and ODI series against England. There can also be talk about the future of the Test team. But there is no hope of action being taken against Gambhir. BCCI's entire focus is currently on the ICC ODI tournament Champions Trophy starting from February 19. Therefore, she does not want to create any disturbing situation. This is the reason why any major decisions will be taken only after the tournament.
