Wait for about two months and then the world's biggest cricket league IPL will start. The new season of IPL may start in March. However, it is not yet clear who will be the next captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Once again there is speculation that Virat Kohli can take charge of RCB again. Now RCB head coach Andy Flower has given a big statement on these speculations. He did not say anything clearly about whether Virat Kohli will captain in IPL 2025 or not, but he has definitely given a hint.
Ever since the auction process for IPL 2025, cricket fans are eager to know who will be the next captain of RCB. There was a lot of speculation about Kohli. Now Andy Flower has reacted to these discussions. He said, 'We will have to wait for the results. This is a new era in which we are going, a three-year journey is about to begin and I am sure the expectations will be good for you.
He further said, 'You can ask me as many times as you want, but till now there has been no discussion regarding captaincy.' Although nothing was made clear from his statement, but after hearing from 'New Era', it is being speculated that Kohli may not be handed over the captaincy. The command should be given to a player who can lead the team for a long time.
Let us tell you that Virat Kohli has captained RCB for almost 10 years. He left the captaincy of the team in the year 2021. In 2011, he first captained RCB temporarily and from 2013 he became the full time captain. However, in 2021, giving a big shock to his fans, he distanced himself from the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore. But in 2023, he was seen captaining in four matches when Faf du Plessis was injured.
After Virat left the captaincy, RCB made famous South African player Faf du Plessis as its new captain. Plessis took command of this team for three years. But before the IPL 2025 auction, Bengaluru released him. Later, during the auction, Plessis was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore.
