In this match held on Saturday, January 11, a tragic accident happened with Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka. Taking a single to complete his half-century cost him dearly. What happened to Nissanka?

Sri Lankan team faltering

Sri Lanka's rhythm broke as soon as Pathum Nissanka left. In the very next over, his fellow opener was out after scoring 17 runs in 33 balls. However, after this, Kamendu Mendis and Kusal Mendis together took charge of the innings and made a partnership of 87 runs. After this, the wicket of Kusal Mendis fell on the score of 156. Then the Sri Lankan team faltered. He started losing wickets at frequent intervals. Half the team returned to the pavilion by the score of 204. Despite a good start, the team could score 290 runs at the loss of 8 wickets after 50 overs.
