Former Indian all-rounder and batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes that Virat Kohli is likely to stick to his established batting strategy in the upcoming ODI series against England. Bangar highlighted that Kohli’s approach brought him huge success during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

India are set to face England in a three-match ODI series, with the opening game scheduled in Nagpur on February 6. Following this, India is set to feature in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, starting their campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20.

Speaking on Star Sports’ show Follow the Blues, Bangar was asked if he had any advice for Kohli ahead of the matches against England.

“I think he would take some time before playing his shots. This is how he has achieved success over the years in fifty-over format. He is not going to press the attacking button from the start of his innings. He follows a set template in this format of the game,” he said.

“He scored three hundreds in the 2023 ODI World Cup and also a fifty in the final against Australia. He loves this format of the game and he knows that he has retired from T20Is. He would give his best in the only white-ball format he is active at the moment,” he added.

The right-hand batter was the leading run-scorer in the 2023 ODI World Cup, scoring 765 runs which included three centuries and six half-centuries at a tremendous average of 95.62 in 11 innings in India’s run to the final
