Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by 3 wickets for their fifth win in the Indian Premier League 2024. The win came after a defeat against the Gujarat Titans. Punjab and Rajasthan have played many thrillers in the last three years. For Irfan Pathan, it is the most underrated rivalry in the cash-rich league.
Meanwhile, RR captain Sanju Samson failed to explain why the two franchises have produced nerve-breaking matches.
“I don’t know what has happened between Rajasthan and Punjab in the last few years. It is funny that the two teams always play close games. I can’t explain why. We were in a winning position in the last match against Gujarat but lost, and today, we almost lost the contest but won it in the end.
“I was tensed with how the last few overs went for us. However, credit goes to the players for masking sure that we cross the line,” Sanju Samson said.
Shimron Hetmyer was RR’s hero, accumulating 27 runs off 10 balls and winning the game. He was named the Player of the Match.
Samson hailed his match-winner. “He was terrific, and that kind of shot he hit comes with the experience. He stayed calm and won us the game,” he added.
