Mohammad Kaif said Jasprit Bumrah is not the right option to replace Rohit Sharma as India's captain simply because he is India's main strike bowler, who is susceptible to injuries and requires breaks from time to time.

Bumrah led India in two Tests in Australia. In the series opener in Perth, where Rohit was unavailable due to the birth of his second child. He single-handedly bowled India back in the contest after they were all out for 150 in the first innings and then he led the team from the front to inspire them to a record 295-run win.

Bumrah was summoned again for the leadership duties when Rohit decided to sit out from the Sydney Test. This time around, Bumrah broke down in the middle of the Test.
