Champions Trophy 2025: As the Champions Trophy gets nearer, Team India now have a new problem to face ahead of the big ticket event. The management is currently cribbing over the fitness issue of Jasprit Bumrah after Mohammed Shami, who is on the other hand has almost reached full recovery.

Bumrah didn't bowl the final session of the 5th Test in Sydney, where India lost by 6 wickets and eventually gave away the series 1-3.

It was later found that he suffered a back spasm and latest reports have raised huge concern as the big 50-over tournament is lined-up.

Jasprit Bumrah Out Of Group Stages?

Earlier it was reported that Bumrah will be rested for the upcoming white-ball series against England so that he can get fit in time for the Champions Trophy. Now as per a fresh report by Revsportz, the 31-year-old will be selected for the tournament but is likely to miss the group stages if the injury is grave.

Only if India reach the knockout stages, only then he will be able to compete with full fitness. If this turns out to be true, it would be a huge blow for the Men in Blue as in the group stage, they will be up against arch-rivals Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand and the Mumbai Indians man's contribution will be huge just the way we saw during the T20 World Cup and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Similar Situation

It won't be the first time that a similar situation has come up for Bumrah. Due to injuries, he has previously missed the T20 World Cup, Asia Cup and World Test Championship final before and the BCCI has protected him at all costs so that he is available for other major tournaments with full fitness.

The board now has to deal exactly what they have done before and hope Bumrah can get fit in time. The India squad for the England white-ball series as well as the Champions Trophy is expected to be announced on 9th or 10th January.
