Devjit Saikia will be elected unopposed as BCCI Secretary in the Special General Meeting of the Indian Cricket Board on January 12, as he is the only candidate in the final list of those contesting the election. On the other hand, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will be elected treasurer. He is also the only candidate in the list of those contesting the elections. In fact, the last date for filing nominations for these posts had ended last week, while the deadline for withdrawal of nominations ended at 2 pm on Tuesday. Since no candidate withdrew his name, the returning officer published the list of contesting candidates at 5 pm on Tuesday evening. The elections will be held during the SGM on January 12 and the decision will be announced on the same day, which is now a formality.
