Nothing seems to be going right for Australian star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh at the moment. After a disappointing performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Marsh returned to play for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League 2024-25 but his return was no less than a nightmare. Marsh returned to play in the Big Bash League (BBL) after almost 3 years but he was out on a golden duck in his very first match.
The Australian T20 captain tried to drive straight on the ball from Renegades fast bowler Will Sutherland, but the ball bounced back from the length and went straight to his pads. Sutherland appealed for a wicket and the umpire wasted no time in raising his finger. You can watch the video of Marsh being out on zero below.
Marsh, who was dropped for the fifth Test against India, last played for the Scorchers in the 2022 BBL Final win over the Sixers. Marsh's wicket took Sutherland close to a hat-trick but Cooper Connolly handled the hat-trick ball easily. He had also dismissed Finn Allen one ball before Marsh.
Earlier on Tuesday, Cricket Australia confirmed that Sam Constas, Alex Carey, Beau Webster and Marsh have been allowed to play for their respective teams for the remaining BBL season. Steve Smith will play three matches for the Sixers, including the local derby against the Thunder on January 17, while Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne will be available for just one match for Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on January 16.
