The last match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia was played at Sydney Cricket Ground. In this match, Australia won against Team India in a one-sided manner. With this, the Indian team lost this series 1-3. Let us tell you, Team India started the 5-match series with a win. But after this the Indian team could not win even a single match, due to which it had to face defeat in the series and a long wait for Australia ended.
This defeat is very painful for Team India. Actually, the Indian team has lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years. Earlier, Team India had lost in the 2014-15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, when Australia had won 2-0. After this, 4 series were played between the two teams and every time Team India won, out of which it defeated Australia twice in its own home. But this time the Indian team could not repeat this feat, due to which Australia won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade.
In the Sydney Test, the command of Team India was in the hands of Jasprit Bumrah. They won the toss and decided to bat first. But Indian batting was once again poor. Team India could score only 185 runs in its first innings. Rishabh Pant scored the maximum 40 runs in this innings, apart from him no other batsman could stay at the crease for long. At the same time, Scott Boland took maximum 4 wickets for Australia. Mitchell Starc was also successful in taking 3 wickets.
In response, Australia's first innings was also nothing special, it collapsed after scoring only 181 runs. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj made the team comeback by taking 3-3 wickets and Jasprit Bumrah-Nitish Reddy also got 2-2 successes. On the other hand, Beau Webster scored the maximum 57 runs for Australia in this innings, this was also his debut match.
Indian bowlers bowled well in the first innings, due to which the team got a lead of 4 runs. But the Indian batsmen flopped in the second innings also. This time too only Rishabh Pant's bat worked. Rishabh Pant played a quick inning of 61 runs in 33 balls, but even after this the Indian team was all out after scoring only 157 runs and set a target of 162 runs for Australia. Australia did not face any problem in achieving this target and they won easily.
