In the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, heated exchanges have been seen between Indian and Australian players on many occasions. Sometimes Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj came face to face and sometimes the dispute between Virat Kohli and Sam Constants was in the news. The atmosphere in the test match being played in Sydney was also similar. There was a tussle between Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Constants in the last over of the first day's play. Now Rohit Sharma has given a big statement on this matter. Rohit Sharma has clearly said that if our boys are provoked, they will not keep quiet.
During the last over of the first day of the Sydney Test, Australia's young opener Sam Constants and India's veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah got into a tussle. When Rohit Sharma was asked about this matter while talking on Star Sports after the lunch break of the second day's play, he gave a blunt answer. Rohit Sharma said, 'Our boys are quiet as long as they are quiet, if you keep pointing fingers then they will keep quiet for a while'.
The entire incident is related to the last two balls of the first day's play. Bumrah was bowling the third over of Australia's innings and the last over of the first day's play. When Bumrah stepped forward to bowl the fifth ball of the over, Usman Khawaja, who was on strike, was not ready. Once again Bumrah got ready to bowl the ball but again Khawaja was delaying and then Bumrah looked a little worried. Meanwhile, Sam Constants, who was standing on non-strike, said something to Bumrah without any reason. Bumrah also came to Constas. Both were then seen saying something to each other. After this the umpire intervened and calmed down the matter.
The controversy did not stop here. After this Bumrah bowled a ball which remained a dot. Then Bumrah came with the last ball and on this he got the wicket of Khawaja. As soon as Bumrah took the wicket, he angrily went towards Constants and then stopped and started shouting at him. After this, Indian players also celebrated the wicket in front of the wicket.
