There has been a big change in Team India in the fifth and decisive Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Captain Rohit Sharma has distanced himself from this match. But former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar is not at all happy with this decision. He has not called Rohit Sharma the greatest player of all time after distancing himself from Rohit's playing eleven. He said that if Virat Kohli had been here then the matter could have been understood. Manjrekar has also raised questions on Rohit's Test figures and his average.
Commenting on Star Sports, he said, 'Rohit has got good rest. My issue is with Indian cricket culture, covert operations. Rohit is not the greatest player of all time to keep his exclusion from the final playing XI a mystery. If it was Virat Kohli, then it would be understandable, but Rohit has played around 60 Test matches. And among these, he has only one century in his account abroad, so his average is only 40. I don't think his exclusion from the XI should be so mysterious.
Let us tell you that the year 2024 has been very bad for both the legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. At the same time, both of them did not do anything special in the Border Gavask Trophy. Rohit has scored only 31 runs in three matches in this series. Whereas Virat Kohli had scored only 167 runs in the series till the Melbourne Test. Only one century came from his bat.
Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah is taking command of the team due to Rohit Sharma not playing in the Sydney Test. Bumrah had captained the Perth Test even in the presence of Rohit. He has also got a big responsibility in the Sydney Test. Shubman Gill has returned to the Indian team in place of Rohit. Prasidh Krishna has got a chance in place of fast bowler Akash Deep.
