Former Australia captain Michael Clarke opined that RR need to amp up their game in hopes to regain winning form in their upcoming clash against PBKS in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, on April 14. Clarke explained that RR needed to bounce back from the last-ball defeat to GT, and perform from the very start with both bat and ball against a potentially dangerous PBKS side. The Sanju Samson-led RR side has enjoyed a brilliant start to IPL 2024, which has seen them cushion their place at the top of the points table. However, their four-game unbeaten streak took a hit with their loss to Gujarat by 3 wickets on April 10. RR has emerged as one of the best-performing sides in IPL 2024, with both their batting and bowling units shining brightly throughout their five fixtures this season. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal's unusually dismal start, the top order, comprising Jos Buttler, Samson, and the consistently brilliant Riyan Parag, has showcased remarkable batting prowess. In the bowling department, Trent Boult and Nandre Burger have been in scintillating form, complemented by another impressive season from their spin-master Yuzvendra Chahal. However, Clarke believes that RR need to perform even better to get back on the winning track, against PBKS, who have dangerous players like Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma in their mix. They're expected to win Rajasthan, which creates pressure. So I think that allows Punjab to go and play with freedom. Again, leave nothing in the tank. Try and win the game from ball one, whether you bat first, bowl first. Rajasthan need to perform better than they did in their last game, and they'll want to get back to their winning ways. Again, no matter how good your team is, momentum goes both ways. When you're winning, you want it. When you're losing, you don't want to go back-to-back losses. So, yeah, I think Rajasthan will turn up in the right attitude, and they'll want to make things right after their loss the other day," Clarke told Star Sports. Speaking on the same show, former Australia cricketer Tom Moody also reflected on PBKS this season and how they can give RR a strong fight. "Whenever I think of Punjab, all I think of is Shashank, and what he has done over the last couple of years. The one that played at Sunrisers Hyderabad a few years back. But isn't it a great story, that? And, you know, got one over the line against GT, just fell short against Sunrisers. I think it's going to be a really interesting game because Rajasthan, I think, were shocked at their loss." Moody said. With the PBKS uncapped players in impressive form and RR hunting for their return to winning ways, the anticipation for a thrilling encounter between the two sides has reached sky-high.
