Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are going through the worst phase of their career. In the year 2024, both of them disappointed the fans with their batting. Both of their bats have not played even in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Meanwhile, a news has come which has increased the tension of the fans further. According to media reports, Rohit and Virat will not play the home ODI series against England in February 2025. Both the players will be given rest. But if this happens, this decision may prove costly for Team India. Because ICC Champions Trophy is also in February and that too will be played in ODI format only. In such a situation, if these two stalwarts of Team India enter the Champions Trophy without any preparation, then India may have to go nowhere.
Rohit and Virat will play in the last Test match of the current series to be played in Sydney from 3 to 7 January. After this, Team India will play a five-match T20 series against England at home. Let us tell you that Rohit Virat has retired from T-20 International last year. After the T-20 series, there will be a 3-match ODI series between England and India in February, just before the Champions Trophy. This will be the only series to prepare for this tournament. In such a situation, both could have played but they decided to rest. Now do not create any trouble for the Indian team in future.
Let us tell you that in the year 2024, the Indian team has played only three ODIs. The Indian team did not win even a single match out of the three ODIs on the Sri Lanka tour. The first ODI was a tie and by winning both the subsequent ODIs, Sri Lanka won the series. The last match of the series was played on 7 August 2024. In which Rohit scored 35 runs and Virat scored 20 runs. Since then, Team India has not played any ODI match. In such a situation, if Rohit Virat directly enters the Champions Trophy without any preparation, then he may have to face problems and it will also affect the performance of Team India.
England will tour India in January. The first 5-match T-20 series will be played between the two teams. After this there will be a three-match ODI series. The first ODI will be held in Nagpur on 6th February, the second ODI will be held in Cuttack on 9th February and the third ODI will be held in Ahmedabad on 12th January. After this, the Champions Trophy will start from 19th February. Team India's campaign will start from February 20 with the match against Bangladesh.
