38 teams are participating in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024. International stars like Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are also playing in this tournament. Till now, these two have not done anything special but apart from them, everyone's eyes are also on 13 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has already created a lot of buzz from the IPL auction. This teenage batsman from Bihar finally made a big splash in the tournament by showing the power of his bat. The special thing was that their target was the team of 'Pandya Brothers'. In a Vijay Hazare Trophy match played between Baroda and Bihar, Suryavanshi scored a stormy half-century with the help of 12 boundaries. He even left behind Sachin Tendulkar, who scored his first half-century in List A cricket at the age of 17.
The match between Baroda and Bihar team was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Hardik was not a part of this match but even his elder brother Krunal Pandya could not stop this young batsman. Batting first, Baroda team scored 277 runs in 49 overs. In reply, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who came to open for Bihar, thrashed him badly and scored runs at a strike rate of more than 169. Vaibhav gave a strong start to his team in the match against Baroda. Facing 42 balls, he scored 71 runs in a explosive manner.
This stormy fifty of Suryavanshi included 12 boundaries. Apart from 8 fours, he also hit four sixes. It is noteworthy that Vaibhav took entry in Vijay Hazare Trophy from this season and with this he also made a record in his name. He became the youngest Indian player to debut in List-A cricket but Suryavanshi flopped in his debut match. A few days ago, Vaibhav played his first match against Madhya Pradesh at the age of 13 years and 269 days but he was out on the very second ball. However, after Vaibhav was out, the rest of the batsmen could not make any significant contribution and the team lost by 36 runs after scoring 241 runs.
Suryavanshi came into limelight during the IPL 2025 auction. This 13-year-old young player was included in the auction by Rajasthan Royals, a team captained by Sanju Samson, for Rs 1.10 crore, whereas his base price was Rs 30 lakh. Suryavanshi is also the youngest player to be sold in IPL. Even before this, when he was shortlisted for the IPL auction, he had created history. He was shortlisted for the auction at the age of 13 years and 242 days.
