Talismanic Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been nominated for the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year award due to her stellar performances with the willow in 2024.
Mandhana has been in phenomenal form this year. She started the year with two hundred against South Africa in Bengaluru in June. She added two more centuries to her tally thereafter.
In the series against South Africa, Mandhana scored 343 runs in three innings and won the Player of the Series award. She slammed another century against New Zealand in the final match of their home series, following the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
She slammed her fourth century of the year against Australia in December, although it came in a losing cause.
Mandhana scored 763 runs in 21 innings this year, making her the highest scorer in T20I cricket. She also holds the record for the most runs (1659) in ODIs in the 2024 season.
The southpaw, however, will face stiff competition for the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year award, from the likes of Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa), Annabel Sutherland (Australia), and Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka).
Shreyanka nominated for Emerging Cricketer of the Year award
Meanwhile, India's Shreyanka Patil has been nominated for the ICC Women's Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2024.
Shreyanka made her India debut in December 2023. Since then, she has become a vital cog in the Indian set-up in white-ball cricket.
The 22-year-old made a brilliant impact in the Women's T20 Asia Cup and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, strengthening her position in the Indian team.
Her bowling tally of 2 for 14 against Pakistan helped India restrict the opposition to 105 for 8.
Other contenders for the award are South Africa's Annerie Dercksen, Scotland's Saskia Horley, and Ireland's Freya Sargent.
