Former Australian coach Darren Lehmann has blamed Yashasvi Jaiswal for a mix-up with Virat Kohli during the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test match in Melbourne, which led to his run out in the Indian first innings.
Prior to the close of play on day two at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Jaiswal had called Kohli for a risky single, and after the former Indian captain said 'no,' his partner was left stranded in the middle of the pitch.
Following the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal on 82 off 118, Virat Kohli, who was looking in complete control with the bat, lost his concentration with the bat, and it led to his downfall on 36 runs in 84 balls. Kohli was disciplined around the off stump throughout his stay at the crease, leaving the balls with relative ease, until he fiddled with one from Scott Boland, getting caught behind the wicket as Alex Carey took a simple catch.

I actually think Jaiswal was at fault. He hit it straight to Patty Cummins: Darren Lehmann
While speaking on ABC Sport's live commentary feed, Darren Lehmann spoke at length about the run out mix-up between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli. He was quoted as saying, as per CricTracker, 'I actually think Jaiswal was at fault. He hit it straight to Patty Cummins who's one of the best fielders going around in the world for a fast bowler. It went straight to him at pace, and he just took off. He just had a bit of a brain fade, the young fella.'
'There was no run. He hit it straight to him, unless I'm watching something different. He was batting beautifully, and if they got through that 25 minutes, it's a whole different ball game today,' Darren Lehmann added. He also felt that Yashasvi Jaiswal was looking to get his second hundred of the BGT series in Melbourne, which made him put unnecessary pressure on himself in the last half hour of the game.
The 54-year-old remarked, 'I think the young fella just got overawed by the moment because the pressure was building. He knew if they got through the 25 minutes he could be 100 either last night or early this morning.'
