On the pitch where Steve Smith scored a brilliant century, where three Australian batsmen scored half-centuries and the Kangaroos scored 474 runs, Virat Kohli failed miserably on the same flat wicket of Melbourne. Virat Kohli scored 76 runs in the first innings of Melbourne Test. The big thing is that Virat once again got out while tampering with the ball outside the off stump. Virat Kohli's wicket fell in the 43rd over. Virat tried to play Scott Boland's tremendous good length ball which was on the fifth stump and as a result the ball took the edge of his bat and wicketkeeper Alex Carey took an easy catch.
After Virat Kohli's dismissal, it was said that this player made this mistake because of the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Yashasvi Jaiswal was run out in the 41st over. A misunderstanding with Virat Kohli cost him his life. Former cricketers doing commentary also said that after that wicket, Virat Kohli got distracted and he got out.
Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal took control of Team India after the fall of the first two wickets. There was a partnership of 102 runs between the two but then a big accident happened in the 41st over. Yashasvi Jaiswal wanted to steal a quick run and Virat was not ready for that run, as a result Jaiswal was out. Jaiswal missed a century and returned after scoring 82 runs. After just 7 balls, Virat Kohli's wicket also fell and Akashdeep was also out in the next over. Team India lost its 3 wickets for just 6 runs.
The second day was not good for Team India. At one time his batting was going well but by the end of the day's play, Team India lost five wickets for 164 runs. India is still 310 runs behind Australia. The good thing is that Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja are at the crease and Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar are yet to arrive.
