Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets to register their second win in the Indian Premier League 2024. Chasing 167 runs to break LSG’s 13th match-winning streak at home, Jake Fraser-McGurk and captain Rishabh Pant played match-winning knocks.

The 22-year-old Australian, who was on his debut, started aggressively. However, he struggled against the LSG spinners in the middle order, but he managed to break the shackles and went on to score 55 runs off 35 balls.

He hit five sixes and two fours and struck his runs at a strike rate of 157.14. Lucknow’s captain, KL Rahul, admitted that all their plans failed against Jake Fraser-McGurk.

“We were 15-20 short and should have got 180 on the fresh wicket. There was help for the seamers, but Kuldeep Yadav managed to control our run flow and even took the big wickets.

“We watched a lot of videos of the new guy, McGurk, but he managed to hit big shots. We wanted to win the game, as that’s our thought process in the IPL. Warner was dismissed early, and we were in the game. However, Rishabh-McGurk took the game away from us.

“We brought Nicholas Pooran early to take advantage as spinners were not getting help from the wicket,” KL Rahul said.

Pant scored 41 runs off 24 deliveries, packed with four fours and two sixes. Earlier, Ayush Badoni slammed a fine fifty to take LSG to a competitive total.
