Ravichandran Ashwin will no longer be seen in Team India's jersey. Ashwin has taken retirement from international cricket after the third match of Border Gavaskar Trophy. Ashvivan has made many big records in his name which fans will never forget, however, he has also had many controversies which can never be forgotten. Among these, cases ranging from Mankading to scuffle with Eoin Morgan had made a lot of headlines. Let us tell you about Ashwin's 5 biggest controversies.
Ravichandran Ashwin came into limelight for mankading in IPL. In the year 2019, in the match played between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings, Ashwin had 'mankading' Jos Buttler. Let us tell you that when a bowler bowls the ball and the batsman standing on non-strike goes out of the crease, then the bowler has a chance to run him out. This is called Mankading. Ashwin also did the same with Butler in the match. However, at that time the cricket giants were divided into two parts. Some supported him and some opposed him. Regarding Ashwin, it was said that he should have warned Butler once before doing so.
When Ashwin was playing his 100th Test, he received congratulations from all over the world. Former Indian cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan also congratulated him. But he did not get any reply from Ashwin. Laxman Sivaramakrishnan had written on social media that he had called Ashwin to congratulate him for his 100th Test but Ashwin disconnected his call and did not talk to him. Laxman had angrily said that former cricketers get such respect. But Ashwin kept silence on this matter.
In another match in IPL, Ashwin had a fight with former England cricketer Eoin Morgan. Ashwin was playing for Delhi Capitals and Morgan for Kolkata Knight Riders. While batting, Ashwin had taken one run as a bye, however, Morgan appeared angry with this and reminded Ashwin of his sportsmanship. But Ashwin lost his temper on this matter and got into a fight with him. There was even a fight between the two. Then this matter was resolved by Dinesh Karthik.
Ashwin once shared an advertisement video of Nike company's shoes. On this, the former South African cricketer wrote, 'I hope that now wearing these shoes you will run a little faster than before, Ashwin'. However, Ashwin had called Gibbs a match fixer on this. He had replied, 'Not so fast, as fast as you were, friend, unfortunately I have not been as happy as you. But fortunately, I definitely got that moral knowledge in which I learned that I did not learn to fix the game through which you get food.
The matter did not stop here. Gibbs also got hurt by Ashwin's words. Then he wrote, 'I think maybe you can't take jokes, let's end it here'. But even Ashwin did not agree. The Indian spinner then replied, 'Let me tell you that my reply was also a joke, but see how people and you also took it. Friend, I am completely ready for such a joke, we will sit over dinner sometime and discuss this issue. Let us tell you that in 2001, when South Africa went on the tour of West Indies, Gibbs was found guilty of fixing.
In a match played between Trichy and Dindigul Dragons in Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Ashvivan clashed with the umpire over DRS dispute. The umpire had given out the Trichy batsman after being caught behind the stumps. But the batsman took the help of the third umpire. After this the decision of not out came. But after this, Ashwin, who was the captain of Dindigul Dragons team, demanded a review. However the decision was not changed. Then Ashwin became enraged and clashed with the on-field umpire. Somehow the argument between the two calmed down.
