Who will be the next white ball captain of New Zealand? The answer to this question is now in front of the whole world. New Zealand Cricket Board has appointed Mitchell Santner as the next captain of ODI and T20. The chair of ODI and T20 captain in New Zealand was vacant since the T20 World Cup ended this year. The Kiwi team played the T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Kane Williamson, who resigned after the end of the tournament. Santner has now replaced Williamson. Santner was a part of CSK in the last season of IPL. However, Dhoni kept him on the bench in most of the matches. Meaning he did not get many opportunities to play.
But New Zealand has now handed over the command of its white ball team to Dhoni, whom Dhoni kept on the bench in most of the matches. The special thing about Santner is that he has experience of more than 100 matches in both ODI and T20. He is among the select 4 New Zealand players who have played 100 or more matches in both ODI and T20.
Mitchell Santner is very happy to become the captain of New Zealand. He said that this is a proud moment. And, it is a matter of respect. Every child starts playing cricket with the dream that one day he will play for his country. Will captain him. Santner said that his dream is now coming true.
Its a huge honor and a privilege.
