Latest News :- Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi took charge as Rajya Sabha member today (Thursday). Along with him, Union Minister Ashwin Vaishnav and 14 others took charge. Sonia Gandhi, a former Lok Sabha MP, has been elected to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan for the first time. 91-year-old former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's tenure ended yesterday (April 3), with his successor Sonia Gandhi taking charge today.
Sonia Gandhi took oath in the presence of Rajya Sabha Chairman Piyush Goyal, Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge. Then Sonia's daughter Priyanka Gandhi was with her. Union Minister Ashwin Vaishnav took charge as the Rajya Sabha member from Odisha, while Sonia Gandhi took charge as the Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan.
Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar administered the oath of office to the 14 people who held office along with him.
