On one hand, the third match of the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is being played in Brisbane. On the other hand, the third and last match of the three-match series is being played between England and New Zealand. Australia is in a strong position in the match between India and Australia, while New Zealand is in a strong position in the match being played between England and New Zealand. When both these teams are ahead of the opposing team in the match, then obviously their players must have given a strong performance. Yes… On one hand, Steve Smith and Travis Head scored centuries for Australia, while on the other hand, Kane Williamson also played a century for New Zealand. However, there was a special coincidence in these century innings of Kane and Smith.
On the second day (15 December) of the Gabba Test against India, Steve Smith played a century. He scored 101 runs in 190 balls against India. This was his 33rd hundred in Test. Earlier, Smith had completed his 32nd Test century against England in June 2023.
Steve Smith scored his 33rd century on 15 December, while the very next day (16 December) New Zealand's legendary batsman Kane Williamson scored the 33rd century of his Test career. Against England, he scored 156 runs in 204 balls in the second innings.
Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root and Virat Kohli are considered to be the greatest batsmen of the present era. Smith and Kane have put their team in a strong position by scoring centuries, while Joe Root is also in the best form of his career and recently he completed the 37th century of his Test career. But Indian legend Virat Kohli has been a flop so far in the current series, apart from scoring a century in the Perth Test. After flopping in Adelaide Test, his bat did not work even in Gabba. Virat was out for just three runs in the first innings.
