Delhi: Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim on Friday announced his retirement from international cricket for the second time. In November last year also he had announced his retirement, but later withdrew it. He reversed this decision after playing an important role in Islamabad United's title win in PSL.

Flopped in T20 World Cup 2024

Imad and Mohammad Aamir returned for the Men's T20 World Cup held in West Indies and UAE, but Pakistan could not progress beyond the group stage.

In this tournament, Imad scored only 19 runs in three matches and took 3 wickets. His last match was against Ireland in Lauderhill.

Announced retirement by tweeting

35-year-old Imad wrote on social media, “After much thought and consideration, I have decided to retire from international cricket.

Representing Pakistan has been the biggest honor of my life. Every moment spent wearing the green jersey is memorable for me.”

'Will play domestic and franchise cricket'

The all-rounder thanked his fans and said, “Your support, love and passion always inspired me to perform better. Whether times were good or bad, your encouragement gave me the courage to try my best.” He further wrote, “Although this chapter of international cricket is coming to an end, I will continue to try to entertain you while playing domestic and franchise cricket.

Imad Wasim scored 1540 runs in 55 ODI and T20 matches in his career, which included six half-centuries. In bowling, he took 117 wickets, which included five wicket performances twice and four wicket performances once.
