West Indies left-handed batsman Amir Jangoo created history by scoring a stormy century in the third and last ODI against Bangladesh played at Warner Park in St Kitts on Thursday (December 12). On his international debut, 27-year-old Jangu played an unbeaten inning of 104 runs in 83 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes.
With this century, Jangu achieved a feat which no player had been able to do in the 53 years of ODI history. Jangu has become the first player in ODI history to score a century in his debut match while chasing a target of 300 or more.
Apart from this, he has become the second West Indies cricketer to score a century on ODI debut. Before that, in the debut match against Australia in 1978, Desmond Haynes had played an inning of 148 runs in 136 balls.
Let us tell you that after his brilliant performance in domestic cricket, Jangu got a chance in the West Indies team. He scored the highest number of runs in the Super 50 Cup, scoring 446 runs with his bat at an average of 89.20. Scored 500 runs at an average of 100 in the four-day championship.
It is noteworthy that on the basis of brilliant innings of Jangu and Kisi Carty (95 runs), West Indies defeated Bangladesh by 4 wickets in this match and won the series 3-0.
After being invited to bat first, Bangladesh scored 321 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. Mahmudullah, who was the top scorer, scored unbeaten 84 runs in 63 balls. Apart from this, captain Mehdi Hasan Miraj scored 77 runs in 73 balls, Soumya Sarkar scored 73 runs in 73 balls, while Zaker Ali scored unbeaten 62 runs in 57 balls.
Chasing the target, the West Indies team won by losing 6 wickets in 45.5 overs.
