Babar Azam has been appointed as the captain of Pakistan men's cricket team in white ball formats (ODI and T20 International).

T20 World Cup 2024 news in hindi: Lahore: Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam was once again appointed captain of the white ball format on Sunday, two months before the T20 World Cup.

This decision has been taken after the unanimous recommendation of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee. Following the unanimous recommendation of the PCB Selection Committee, Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Babar Azam as the captain of the Pakistan men's cricket team in white-ball formats (ODI and T20 Internationals), the PCB said.

After the disappointing performance in the ODI World Cup held in India in November last year, Babar left the captaincy of Pakistan in all three formats. Babar stepped down after then PCB chief Zaka Ashraf said he no longer wanted to captain the limited overs format and only wanted to lead the Test team.

Babar replaced fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi in T20. He will be the captain, who led Pakistan from series 1-4 against New Zealand in January before the T20 World Cup begins in the USA and West Indies from June 1.
