Mumbai Indians have started winning after losing three consecutive games in the Indian Premier League 2024. The five-time champions team was in trouble, beaten by Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. However, they returned to winning ways against Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The most recent game against RCB was the most impressive of the lot. The hosts completed the target of 197 in just 15.3 overs at the Wankhede Stadium.
Jasprit Bumrah performed his role perfectly, taking five wickets, while Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav slammed aggressive fifties. Mumbai now has four points from five games and is looking dangerous.
Former India player Rohan Gavaskar highlighted why the Hardik Pandya-led team is dangerous.
“If you look at other teams, they have one X-factor player in the squad. And now, if you compare it with Mumbai Indians, they are six or seven X-factor players. Jasprit Bumrah is one of them. He is the best in their bowling line-up.
“Their batting line-up is full of X-factor players. You start with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Then you have Suryakumar Yadav Tilak Varma. Tim David and Romario Shepherd. I mean, you can get one or two dismissed, but keeping everyone silent is not possible. Look at what they did against RCB. The lowest strike rate was 158, which was recorded by Rohit. They have a long batting line-up and once they get going, it is difficult to beat Mumbai,” he said on Cricbuzz.
