Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head were involved in a heated argument on Day 2 of the Adelaide Test. The two were punished by the International Cricket Council and now the two other Indian cricketers clashed on the field. Nitish Rana and Ayush Badoni argued during the quarter-final match of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on December 11.
The incident happened during the 13th over of Delhi’s innings when captain Ayush Badoni tried to take a single on Nitish Rana’s delivery.
After the batter completed a run, Rana said something to Badoni, who didn’t hold back, leading to a heated exchange. The umpires intervened to separate the two players, who were not ready to stop.
Uttar Pradesh captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the toss and elected to field first at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Priyansh Arya (44 runs off 31 balls) and Yash Dhull (42 runs off 34 balls) stitched a partnership of 82 runs for the first wicket. Nitish and Mohsin Khan dismissed the two batters.
Captain Ayush Badoni and Anuj Raw added 77 runs for the fourth wicket. Rawat was unbeaten on 73* off 33 as Delhi posted 193/3 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Uttar Pradesh managed 174 and lost the match by 19 runs. Delhi will take on Madhya Pradesh in the second semifinal of the tournament. Mumbai and Baroda will clash in the first semifinal.
