Babar Azam slips in ICC T20I Rankings 2024 News In Hindi: After failure in the first T20 International match against South Africa, Babar Azam has slipped to seventh place in the ICC T20 Rankings. This was his return match after being rested for the Zimbabwe tour and Babar was dismissed by Kwena Mafaka before being dismissed for a duck off four balls.
It was his seventh duck in the shortest format of the game, equaling Virat Kohli, who has now retired from T20Is. Babar played his 127th match in the format on December 10 (Tuesday), while Kohli has played 125 T20I matches for India. Talking about the rankings, Babar has slipped below Pakistan's current T20I captain Mohammad Rizwan, who scored an inning of 74 runs in the first T20I against the Proteas.
Rizwan scored 74 runs off 62 balls, leaving Pakistan 11 runs behind in the chase of 184 runs. However, he moved up two places in the rankings to sixth with 713 rating points, three more than his former captain and teammate.
Travis Head continues to top the T20I rankings for batsmen in the latest update while India's Tilak Verma and Suryakumar Yadav remain at the third and fourth positions respectively.
Talking about Babar Azam, there has been a huge decline in his ranking in Test and T20. Until recently he was the only player to be in the top five across all formats. But he tops the batting rankings only in ODIs and is ranked 7th in the shortest format of the game. Babar is at 18th place in the Test rankings.
