15-year-old Caoimhe Bray has been named in the Australian 15-member squad for the Women's U19 T20 World Cup to be held in Malaysia next year.

Bray hogged the limelight while playing for the Sydney Sixers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2024. In 10 games, the youngster picked up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 7.42.

Bray also scored 37 runs at a strike-rate of 148, including an unbeaten five-ball 12 against Melbourne Renegades on debut, where she also hit the winning runs. Bray was also impressive in the series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka earlier this year.

Bray, the youngest member of Australia's Under-19 squad, made a strong impression during September's tri-series in Brisbane. At Ian Healy Oval, she scored an impressive 84 runs off 76 balls and claimed 4-20 in a commanding 119-run victory over New Zealand.

Chloe Ainsworth, Maggie Clark, Lucy Hamilton, Eleanor Larosa, and Kate Pelle will represent Australia in their second ICC Under-19 World Cup, following their participation in the 2023 T20 campaign in South Africa.

Young all-rounder Hasrat Gill, who joined the Sydney Thunder after leaving Melbourne Stars, is also a part of the squad.

Notably, 14 of the 15 players selected have senior domestic experience, having competed in tournaments such as the WBBL, WNCL, or T20 Spring Challenge. The squad also features 16-year-old Tegan Williamson, who joins as an underage player and remains eligible for the 2027 tournament.

The final squad was announced after the conclusion of the Under-19 National Championships in Perth this week.

Australia are placed in Group D alongside Bangladesh, Scotland and Nepal. Cricket Australia's National Development Lead Kristen Beams will coach the squad. The captain for the tournament is yet to be announced.
