The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf and England's Danni Wyatt-Hodge as the ICC Players of the Month for November 2024, celebrating their exceptional performances on the international stage.
Haris outperformed fellow wicket-taking pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Marco Jansen to claim the Player of the Month award for November, marking consecutive wins for Pakistan following Noman Ali's recognition in October.
Haris Rauf's Historic Bowling Feats in Australia
Haris Rauf clinched the ICC Men's Player of the Month award after a series of electrifying performances with the ball. The 31-year-old pacer played a pivotal role in Pakistan's first ODI series victory in Australia since 2002, finishing the month with 18 wickets across ODIs and T20Is played in Australia and Zimbabwe.
Rauf's standout performance came during the Adelaide ODI, where he ripped through Australia's batting order with a remarkable spell of 5 for 29, earning him the Player of the Match accolade. His contributions in the series decider in Perth, taking 2 for 24 alongside fellow pacers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, helped restrict Australia to 140 and secure a historic series win.
In T20Is, Rauf continued his form, with a stunning 4 for 22 in the second match in Sydney, further highlighting his resurgence in the shorter format. His efforts propelled him to a career-best 13th position in the ICC Men's ODI Bowling Rankings.
"Being named ICC Player of the Month is an incredible honor. This recognition is a reflection of the teamwork and unwavering support of our fans. Wearing the Pakistan jersey is always a privilege, and I dedicate this award to everyone who has supported me on my journey'', Rauf expressed his gratitude.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge Shines in England's T20I Triumph
England's explosive batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge claimed the ICC Women's Player of the Month award for her consistent performances in the T20I series against South Africa. Wyatt-Hodge top-scored for England with 142 runs at an average of 71, helping her team secure a dominant series sweep.
After a quiet start in East London, Wyatt-Hodge roared back to form in the second T20I in Benoni, smashing 78 off just 45 balls to guide England to a convincing 36-run victory. She followed it up with an unbeaten half-century in Centurion, sealing a nine-wicket win and the series.
Wyatt-Hodge also achieved a career-best position in the ICC Women's T20I Batting Rankings during November, underlining her impact at the crease.
"I'm delighted to receive this award. A big thank you to my teammates and coaches for their support. We had a fantastic series against South Africa, and it's been personally satisfying to perform consistently. As a team, we're focused on building momentum for an exciting year ahead, including the Ashes'', Wyatt-Hodge said, reflecting on her achievement.
Both Haris Rauf and Danni Wyatt-Hodge earned their maiden ICC Player of the Month honors, following a vote by global fans and an expert panel of ICC Hall of Famers, former players, and media representatives.
