Hemang Badani has taken over as the head coach of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025. He has replaced Ricky Ponting. Delhi's new coach had recently made a shocking revelation about Rishabh Pant. During a recent interview, he had alleged that the franchise wanted to retain Pant, but he himself wanted to go to the Pant Mega Auction. He felt that his market value was high, so he left the team. Now his statement seems to be proved false. Because franchise owner Parth Jindal had said exactly the opposite.

What did Parth Jindal say on Pant's retention?

Bidding for players for IPL 2025 was held on 24 and 25 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After the completion of the auction, franchise owner Parth Jindal expressed regret at not being able to include Pant back in the team. He also talked about the decision not to retain. In an interview given to ESPNcricinfo, Parth Jindal had revealed that money had nothing to do with Pant's decision to leave Delhi. He had said that 'Money has never been a problem for neither Rishabh nor us. We were just on different paths.

Jindal had also said that he wanted to retain Pant at any cost. There were many talks between the two but no consensus could be reached on operating the team. That's why he was not retained. The head coach and owner of the team have said two different things. From this it can be inferred that head coach Hemang Badani is making false allegations against Pant.

Tried to buy it back

During the IPL mega auction, 577 players took part, out of which 182 were bought by 10 different teams and included in their teams. Delhi fans were hoping that during this time Rishabh Pant would be bought back through the Right to Match card, but it could not happen. However, Delhi definitely tried for this. When Lucknow team bid Rs 20.25 crore for him, Parth Jindal used the Right to Match card. After this, Lucknow increased the bid to Rs 27 crore. Due to less money in his purse he was forced to leave. Jindal had said that he was ready to give up to Rs 22-23 crore. With this Pant became the most expensive player in the history of the league.
