Royal Challengers Bengaluru is among the worst-performing franchises in the Indian Premier League 2024. They have lost five games while winning just one. Their season is in turmoil, and in all likelihood, there is no place for them to reach the playoffs. The last game against Mumbai Indians once again exposed their bowling. Despite putting up 196 runs on the board, the Faf-du Plessis-led team couldn’t do anything and lost the contest by seven wickets and in 15.3 overs.

All the bowlers went at an economy rate of above 10. Mohammed Siraj’s dip in form has been the biggest concern. He is not taking wickets in the powerplay overs, while batters are slamming him for fours and sixes in the death overs. He is the most experienced bowler in the RCB line-up, but he has looked off-color since the first game of the 17th season.

Former India player Harbhajan Singh thinks Siraj should be rested as he is doing nothing, and the break could help him recharge his batteries. The speedster played four Tests against England in the five-match Test series and could have been carrying fatigue since then.

“Siraj is having a poor season, which has impacted RCB this year. He is not taking wickets, and his economy rate has increased alarmingly this year. I think RCB should rest him for a few games to allow him to work on his shortcomings, and the break could help him. Until he takes wickets for the team, RCB will always be in trouble.

“They don’t have any othe bowler, who is experienced like him and their bowling has caused a lot of damage to their changes,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.

In 6 matches, he has taken four wickets at an average of 57.25 and an economy of 10.40.
