India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken a huge leap in the ICC rankings as the latest edition sees the batter climbs further in the Test rankings.
This achievement comes on the heels of India's victory in the IND vs ENG Ranchi Test, where Jaiswal's impressive performance played a key role. The 22-year-old left-handed batsman has been a crucial element in India's current series, amassing 655 runs across four matches, including two double centuries and two fifty-plus scores. His exceptional form has been instrumental in India's successful run against England.
With his recent performances, Jaiswal has climbed to the 12th position in the latest ICC Test Batting rankings, becoming the second-highest-ranked Indian Test batter. This surge in the rankings highlights his potential and consistency at the international level. The young batter's contributions have been vital for the Indian team in their series victory against England. Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are also featured in the rankings, with Kohli currently at 9th after a drop of two spots and Sharma slipping to the 13th position, just behind Jaiswal. Jaiswal has already scored two double centuries in the Test series against England. The 22-year-old scored 209 runs in the Vizag Test, and then backed it up with another 214 in Rajkot. The southpaw amassed another decent 73 in the last Test match in Ranchi as Rohit Sharma's troops sealed the series there. The youngster has 971 Test runs in 15 innings. The batter needs 29 runs in the next inning to become the 2nd quickest Indian player to 1000 Test runs. Former India player Vinod Kambli is the quickest Indian to reach 1000 Test runs, which he achieved in 14 innings.
