Lucknow: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) veteran batsman Virat Kohli has performed well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and is also the highest run-scorer in the tournament. However, despite such excellent performance, people do not shy away from criticizing him and raise questions about Kohli's strike rate. Now former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has given a befitting reply to Virat's critics.
Let us tell you that questions are often raised about the 35-year-old in T-20 cricket. Due to his strike rate, there are talks of dropping him from the Indian team in this format. Even such reports have been continuously coming out that Kohli may be dropped from the team of T20 World Cup 2024 but the veteran player answered all by scoring runs in IPL 2024. Now while talking on this issue on Geo Cinema, Sehwag was seen standing with Kohli.

He said, “Virat Kohli has scored runs with an excellent strike rate in this IPL. If there was any other player, he would have batted with this strike rate. His strike rate was 150 in the middle overs and around 190 in the end overs. In such a situation, other players also score runs with the same strike rate and it is absolutely wrong to raise questions on them. The pressure on Kohli is that no player is standing with him at the other end, but the way Kohli is batting, other players are also doing the same.
If we talk about the performance of the right-handed batsman in IPL 2024, at present he has the Orange Cap in his name and he is also the highest run-scorer in the tournament. In the 6 matches played so far, the veteran batsman has scored 319 runs with an average of 79.75 and strike rate of 141.78. During this period, one century and two half-centuries have come from his bat. So for RCB, Kohli is seen fighting alone on the field. In the one match which Bengaluru had won, Kohli had performed as the player of the match.
