'I have been told where to bat'
Rahul said, “I have been told (where to bat), but at the same time I have also been told not to share it today. You have to wait for the first day or till the captain (Rohit Sharma) comes here.” Everyone started laughing at this statement of Rahul.
'I just want to be a part of the playing 11'
Talking about the batting order, Rahul said, “I just have to play for the team and concentrate on scoring runs. I have experience of batting in different positions. In the beginning, when I was asked to bat at different positions, it was mentally challenging. How to play the first 20-25 balls? When to attack? These things seemed difficult in the initial days. But, with the experience of playing in different formats, these things have become easier now.”
In the first Test, India did not have Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, due to which KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened. This new pair performed brilliantly. In Canberra, both of them made a partnership of 201 runs, which is the biggest partnership of any Indian opening pair so far in Australia.
