It doesn't take long for luck to change on the cricket field. Any player can come from high to the floor at any time or can suddenly become a hero from zero. Similarly, the fortunes of an experienced Indian bowler have changed, whom everyone had started forgetting in recent times but as soon as he joined MS Dhoni's team Chennai Super Kings, he has started showing wonders. We are talking about Shreyas Gopal, who did wonders by taking a hat-trick in a match of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. His hat-trick was also not like that, during his amazing feat, Gopal destroyed stalwarts like Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya in one ball each.
On Tuesday 3rd December, the teams of Baroda and Karnataka came face to face in Indore. Karnataka batted first in this match and scored 169 runs losing 8 wickets. For him, number six batsman Abhinav Manohar played an explosive innings. Manohar scored unbeaten 56 runs in just 34 balls, which included 6 sixes. Karnataka was able to reach this score only on the basis of this innings because its top order could not do anything special. During this period, Baroda captain Krunal Pandya took 2 wickets for 19 runs in 3 overs.
Despite losing the first wicket early, Baroda attacked strongly and scored 102 runs in just 10 overs. Then in the 11th over, Shreyas Gopal showed his magic. The experienced leg spinner dismissed Shashwat Rawat on the very first ball of the 11th over, who scored a quick 67 runs in 37 balls. This wicket brought relief to the team but Gopal pushed Baroda on the back foot on the next two balls. On the second ball, Gopal dismissed star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was out after playing just one ball, and then on the third ball, he also dismissed team captain Krunal for 0. With this, Gopal created a stir by completing his hat-trick.
However, despite this, the victory went to Baroda because in the lower order, Shivalik Sharma and Vishnu Vinod made a partnership of 49 runs and took the team closer to victory. Baroda achieved the target in just 18.5 overs and won the match by 4 wickets. Even in this defeat, Shreyas Gopal's performance was excellent, who not only took a hat-trick but also took 4 wickets while spending only 19 runs in 4 overs. Shreyas Gopal has performed well in the tournament so far and his performance has started coming after the IPL mega auction, where Chennai Super Kings bought him at a base price of just Rs 30 lakh.
