The Gujarat Titans defeated the Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (April 10) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, ending the latter’s perfect win record in the IPL 2024. The IPL 2022 champions chased down a target of 197, securing a 3-wicket win on the last ball of the match. Captain Shubman Gill top-scored for the Titans with 72 runs off 44 balls, while Rashid Khan finished unbeaten on 24 runs from 11 balls, hitting the winning runs off the final delivery.
The Titans secured their third win in six matches so far in the IPL 2024. . Their total of six points now places them in sixth position in the standings. The Royals, despite suffering their first loss this IPL season against the Titans, remain the number one team.
The video of Rashid’s savage celebration, which he did after hitting a boundary on the final ball of the game, has gone viral on the internet.
Rashid entered the field to bat at 8 for Gujarat Titans when they required 40 runs from the last 15 deliveries. Alongside Rahul Tewatia, who smashed 22 runs off just 11 balls, he secured an emphatic victory for the Ahmedabad franchise.
Not only did Rashid impress with his batting, he also bowled superbly. In his four-over quota, he dismissed Jos Buttler and conceded just 18 runs. Rashid’s excellent all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Rajasthan Royals posted 196/3 in their 20 overs, thanks to superb knocks from skipper Sanju Samson (68* off 38 balls) and Riyan Parag (76 off 48 balls). Samson and Parag have been in excellent form for the Royals in this IPL.
Gujarat Titans will face Delhi Capitals on April 17th at the Narendra Modi stadium.
