AUS-W vs IND-W: Smriti Mandhana eyes Mithali Raj’s all-time India ODI record

Smriti Mandhana is on the cusp of making a massive record for India Women in ODIs. Mandhana is only 310 runs short of reaching the landmark of 4000 runs in ODIs and become the fastest Indian women's batter to get there.

Currently, Mithali holds the record after she reached the milestone in her 112th innings during an ODI against West Indies in Rajkot back in 2011.

Mandhana will have the chance of reaching the landmark when India lock horns with Australia in the three-match ODI series, which starts on December 5 with the opener at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane. In 88 ODIs, Mandhana has scored 3690 runs at an average of 45 and a strike-rate of 84.92 with eight centuries and 27 fifties to show for her efforts.

Australia's Belinda Clark, who is also the first batter, male or female, to hit an ODI double hundred, holds the record for the fastest to 4000 runs. Meg Lanning, Laura Wolvaardt, Karen Rolton, Suzie Bates, Stafanie Taylor, Tammy Beaumont and Debbie Hockley also feature in the list.

Smriti Mandhana in decent form

Mandhana has been in reasonable form in recent times. In the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2024, she scored 144 runs from five games at an average of 28.80 and a strike-rate of 142.57 with a top score of 51 to her name. Earlier in October, for India in the women's game.

Mandhana failed in the first two matches against New Zealand before scoring a match-winning 100 in the decider at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
