This is the 13th time in Test cricket that Root has been out on zero, while this is his 8th duck in the World Test Championship (WTC).

With this record, Root has left behind Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. Kohli and Smith have been out on zero 7-7 times in WTC. Root has now become the batsman who has been out on zero the most number of times in the WTC.

Root's performance in recent matches was not as expected. He was not in form after scoring a double century in the Multan Test against Pakistan. He has scored only 90 runs in the last 5 innings.

Batsmen who were out on zero in the 150th test

Root has become the third batsman to be out on zero in the 150th Test. Before him, Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh were also out without opening an account in their 150th Test. Root is the fourth player to play 150 Tests for England. James Anderson has played the maximum number of 188 tests for England.
