New Zealand will host Australia in a two-match Trans-Tasman Test series from Thursday.
The Kiwis recently suffered a 3-0 T20I series whitewash, suffering defeats in Wellington and Auckland to the touring Aussies.
However, with the World Test Championship points table adding weight to the scenario, New Zealand will have a point to prove in the Test series. The Kiwis last beat Australia at home in a Test match 31 years ago in 1993 in Auckland. In the 31 Tests since, the Kiwis only managed one more win over Australia, at Hobart in 2011. Australia dominate the overall head-to-head between the sides with 34 wins in 60 encounters, losing 18 and drawing eight matches. New Zealand are currently atop the WTC points table with a points percentage (PCT) of 75. India are second, followed by Australia with a 55 PCT.
