He was recently snapped up by Delhi Capitals for a hefty INR 14 crore at the mega auction. Having moved from Lucknow Super Giants to the Delhi Capitals, the right-handed batter became an instant front-runner for the captaincy role ahead of the IPL 2025, but what truly caught everyone’s attention was Rahul’s playful viral moment on social media.

Actually, KL Rahul posted a clip on his Instagram story, where he can be seen fielding at backward point, and he casually juggled the cricket ball with his feet before finally grabbing it with his hands, showcasing his football skills in a moment that left even Australian commentators in awe.

Sharing the video on Instagram, KL Rahul asked the new IPL franchise boss, Parth Jindal, if there are any openings at Bengaluru FC. Notably, Jindal, the co-owner of the Delhi Capitals, is also the managing director of the JSW Group which owns the Bengaluru-based franchise in the Indian Super League (ISL).

Tagged Jindal in a clip from the recent Perth Test, Rahul cheekily captioned it by saying, “@parthjindal, Got an opening at Bengaluru FC?” Well, the official X handle of Bengaluru FC responded to Rahul’s query by saying, “Fancy a loan move, @klrahul? 🔥 Sent you a fax, @delhicapitals 📠 We’ll have him back before the #IPL! 😉”

After acquiring KL Rahul at the IPL 2025 mega auction, Parth Jindal said that he shares a good relationship with the Indian batter and hinted at making him the DC captain ahead of the IPL 2025.

Parth Jindal was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo, “I spoke to KL but haven’t met him yet. I know him very well personally; I will understand from him (what he thinks), and it will boil down to what the coaching group and finally what Kiran (Grandhi, the co-owner) and I want to do. There’s a lot of time for that.”

In addition to owning the Bengaluru FC franchise, which won the ISL title in 2018-19, and the Delhi Capitals, the JSW Group also has stakes in the Pretoria Capitals (South Africa's SA20), Dubai Capitals (UAE's ILT20), Soorma HC (Hockey India League), and Haryana Steelers (Pro Kabaddi League).

Notably, Rahul played a key role in India’s 295-run win in the first Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia in Perth. He had stitched a record 201-run opening stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings at the Optus Stadium.

His 77, Yashasvi’s 161, and Virat Kohli’s 100* were instrumental in India taking a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match Test series against Australia. The second Test of the BGT 2024-25 will be a day-night affair at the Adelaide Oval, starting on December 6.
