Delhi: The controversy regarding hosting of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is not showing any signs of stopping. Meanwhile, the troubles of Pakistan cricket are increasing. The impact of the ongoing political protests in Islamabad is beginning to be seen on sports as well. Due to these protests, the Sri Lanka A team decided to leave the ODI series being played in Pakistan midway and return home.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday confirmed that the remaining two ODI matches between Pakistan Shaheen vs Sri Lanka A have been postponed after discussions with the Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SCB).

PCB said that both the boards together will decide the new date for the remaining matches of the series. This decision of the Sri Lanka A team was taken due to the protests taking place in Islamabad, in which a protest march is being taken out demanding the release of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party leader Imran Khan.

Situation has not changed in Pakistan for 16 years

There has been no significant improvement in the situation in Pakistan since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009. At that time Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan was canceled midway. Now in 2024 also, due to political instability, the Sri Lanka A team left their tour incomplete and returned home.
