Shubhman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag have two things in common. First, all four of them were part of the Indian team that won the Under-19 World Cup 2018. Secondly, all four of them have become key players of different teams in the IPL and have also cemented their place in the Indian team or seem to be doing so. Then comes Prithvi Shaw, who was the captain of the team that won the World Cup and was considered the greatest player. He got the first entry in Team India and created a stir in IPL also. Now after almost 7 years, he is neither in IPL nor in Team India. Now he has become a means of trolling only for cricket fans and this thing has started hurting him too.
In the two-day IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, 182 players were bought, many of which were brand new players. All 10 franchises together spent a total of Rs 639.15 crore to buy these players. But not a single franchise among them bid for Prithvi Shaw. For the first time in his short career, Prithvi Shaw will not be a part of IPL.

But it is not that this explosive right-handed batsman is facing trolling for the first time. This has been happening continuously for the last few years, in which apart from his performance on the field, his activities outside the field have played a big role, which is also considered to be the reason for the decline in his career. Like almost every player, Shaw too has never said anything on all this till date, but now finally his pain has come out.
Only after the IPL auction ended, a video of 25-year-old Prithvi Shaw started going viral on social media, in which he was seen getting emotional and sharing his grief over trolling. However, this video is older than the IPL auction. Shaw said that although he laughs after seeing good or bad memes, sometimes he also feels bad and sad. He said that he sees every trolling about himself on social media and sometimes he feels that this should not have happened because it was said wrongly.

Shaw often remains in limelight and is seen in different parties, which also becomes the reason for his trolling. He also expressed surprise that if he is celebrating his birthday then people also troll him that he is roaming around instead of practicing batting. Shaw said that he can take out one day for himself and enjoy with family and friends. The young opener said that he does not blame anyone for this because the people who say so have not seen him closely.
